2026 SIMC TST Announcement

Hi everyone!

TLDR: Sign up for the SIMC TST!

We are excited to announce our annual SIMC Team Selection Test! This test is used to select our teams that will go to BMT, PUMaC, HMMT February, CMIMC, and SMT.

We will be allowing all students in a 150-mile radius from Seattle to compete at the SIMC TST on Sunday, September 20th from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the KCLS Service Center in Issaquah (960 Newport Way NW, Issaquah, WA 98027). If you would like to join our teams, you MUST take the TST in-person on September 20th. If this is an issue for you, please contact us, and we will attempt to accommodate your situation; however, we will not be hosting any remote testing opportunities.

The test will consist of a 75-minute computational section and a 150-minute proof section. Read more in the 2026 TST rules PDF.

Using a combination of your AMC scores and TST scores, we will calculate an index to rank you against other competitors. In particular, the TST index will be calculated as 0.3 * [AMC index] + 0.4 * [TST computational score] + 0.3 * [TST proof score].

Each score will be normalized in the above formula by dividing it by the highest score achieved by any contestant in that category. For example, if Alice has the highest AMC index of all competitors of 234, and Bob has an AMC index of 200, their indices will be normalized to be 100 and 85.47 respectively. The AMC index will be calculated with the formula 10 * AIME + max(USAJMO, 2 * USAMO), where the highest score ever achieved by the competitor is taken for each test.

By taking the SIMC TST, you intend to participate with SIMC at these events. Thus, after binding availability is indicated, if you qualify for a SIMC team for a competition and choose instead to compete in-person with a non-SIMC team, you may be permanently banned from competing with SIMC in the future.

Non-Seattle-area students may only compete with us at competitions where there is no regional team for them to compete with. For example, students from Portland may compete at our TST, but may not compete with us at HMMT as they already have an HMMT team, while students from Vancouver, BC may compete at our TST and compete with us at HMMT, as there does not exist a Vancouver-area HMMT team for the time being.
